Louise Ferguson has a Ph.D. in Horticulture and Plant Physiology University of Florida, Gainesville, FL (1984) She is Extension Specialist in the Department of Plant Sciences UC Davis.  She has developed research and extension programs in pistachios, olives, figs, citrus, persimmons and pomegranates.  Her research focus is on developing and extending long-term applications for sustainable tree production.  Her program focuses on production physiology of tree fruit and nut crops with extensive experience in pistachios, olives, citrus, figs and persimmons.  Specific applied research areas are alternate bearing of tree crops, rootstock effects on multiple scion characteristics, salinity tolerance of pistachios, fig breeding, and mechanical harvesting and pruning of olives and pistachios.  She served as Director, Fruit and Nut Research and Information Center: www.Fruitsandnuts.ucdavis.edu (1996-2012).  She was Fellow in the California Agricultural Leadership Program; Class 30 (1999-2001).  Her professional service includes the following:
